• Brandon R. Wilson, 17, of Newton was charged with disorderly conduct , simple assault and criminal mischief after officers were called to Progress Industries at 1:25 p.m. Friday. Wilson allegedly threw a chair and hit an employee. In addition, he allegedly broke a door. Estimated repair cost is $100. He was referred to juvenile authorities.

• Mathew K. Borton, 31, of Marshalltown was charged with driving without a license and speeding on Highway 330 at the two mile marker Northbound at 2:38 a.m. Saturday. Officers pulled him over for speeding and discovered that his license had been taken away for failure to pay Iowa fines. Borton was taken to jail.

• Derek Davis, 27, of Bondurant was charged with driving without insurance and driving while license suspended after officers pulled him over for a traffic stop at 300 S. main St. in Prairie City at 3:10 p.m. Sunday. He was taken to Jasper County Jail.

• Jeremy Guckert, 29, of Rhodes was charged with an OWI first offense. Officers pulled him over for a traffic stop at W. 88th St. N Highway 24 at 1:53 a.m. on Sunday. Officers reported that his speech was slurred and he informed police that he drank six to seven beers. His Blood Alcohol Content was .134. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Bobby L. Quick, 26, of Newton was charged with operating while intoxicated after officers were called to the Adult Super Store at 11:31 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene they discovered Quick in his car, nude. He had blood shot eyes and failed a sobriety test. Quick admitted to drinking. He was taken to Jasper County Jail.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 16 and older.
