Newton Police Department

• Anthony R. Amos, 51, of Newton was cited for serious assault after police were called to 502 E. Fourth St. N. #5 at 7:55 p.m. Sunday. Amos allegedly assaulted a male victim. The victim had scratches on his neck, a cut on his head and a scratch on his right cheek. Officers requested Amos appear at the police station where he was cited. He was released to appear.

• Kyle C. Goudeau, 26, of Baxter was arrested for driving while license revoked and driving without insurance after officers pulled him over for a traffic stop in the 1200 block of East 18th Street South at 12:18 p.m. Tuesday. He was taken to Jasper County Jail.

• Trenton J. McPhillips, 22, of Melbourne was charged with fifth-degree theft after officers were called to Walmart at 2:40 p.m. Monday. He allegedly stole two items valued at $4.84. McPhillips was not at Walmart when police arrived, but was located across the street. He was taken to Jasper County Jail.

• Joshua D. Stubbe, 25, of Newton was charged with interference with official acts, drug paraphernalia and arrested on an outstanding warrant after officers were called to 609 N. Fourth Ave. E. at 2:17 a.m. Sunday. Officers confronted Amy S. Johnson, 29, of Newton about Stubbe’s whereabouts. She allegedly denied that he was at the residence, but officers discovered him upstairs. Johnson was charged for accessory after the fact by concealing the subject with intent to prevent apprehension. While at the residence, officers found a knife on Stubbe that had burnt marijuana residue. Both subjects were taken to Jasper County Jail.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 16 and older.
