• Chad M. Hansen-Price, 34, of Newton was charged with serious domestic assault, false imprisonment and obstruction of emergency communication after police were called to 517 First Ave. W. at 9:39 a.m. Wednesday. Hansen-Price allegedly tried to stop the victim from calling authorities, held the victim down, choked her and prevented her escape by blocking the door. The victim had tried to call for help, but Hansen-Price allegedly prevented her from talking to authorities. Police discovered she had bruise marks on her body and a bite mark on her cheek. Hansen-Price was arrested at the scene and taken to jail.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 15 and older.
