‘Miracle on 34th Street’ NCT play begins tonight

The Newton Community Theatre’s stage production of “Miracle on 34th Street” begins tonight. The play, directed by Pam Ratliff and Sue Beukema, is slated to show at 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, plus 7:30 p.m. Dec. 13, 14 and 15.

“Miracle on 34th Street” tells the story of Kris Kringle (Scott Schaeffer) who takes the job of department store Santa at the Macy’s flagship store on 34th Street in New York City. While there, he works his matchmaking skills on Fred (Lonnie Appleby) and Doris (Kristine Perkins) and tries to get young Susan (Claire Hunt) to believe in Santa Claus. Later, he is put on trial when he insists he is the real Santa Claus.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for youth.
