Halferty selects Rozendaal to serve as chief deputy

Sheriff-elect John Halferty announced last week that he has chosen Duane Rozendaal to serve as chief deputy of Jasper County upon Halferty taking office on Jan. 1.

Rozendaal has served as an Iowa State Trooper for more than 25 years, said Halferty, and will bring his wealth of experience to the county in the new year.

“Duane has most recently been assigned to (Iowa State Patrol) Post 1, which includes Jasper County, and he also worked in the Poweshiek County area, so I’ve known him for several years,” Halferty said in a phone conversation. “The law enforcement community in Jasper County knows him and thinks highly of him, he’s well respected.”
