Halferty chooses Rozendaal for next Chief Deputy

Sheriff-elect John Halferty has announced that he has chosen Iowa State Trooper Duane Rozendaal to serve as Chief Deputy Sheriff of Jasper County, effective Jan. 1.

Rozendaal has served as an Iowa State Trooper for more than 25 years, said Halferty, and will bring his wealth of experience to the county in the new year.

"Duane has most recently been assigned to (State Patrol) Post 1, which includes Jasper County, and he also worked in the Poweshiek County area, so I've known him for several years," Halferty said in a phone conversation. "The law enforcement community in Jasper County knows him and thinks highly of him, he's well respected."
