PCM wrestling has split results in first two meets

It has been an interesting start to the season for Prairie City-Monroe wrestling team.

After scoring a victory over North Polk on Nov. 29, the Mustangs had a reality check at a tournament in Bondurant over the weekend.

“A very tough tournament to start the season,” PCM coach Cory Waddell said. “The young squad learned early in the season what it takes to compete against some of the best teams in the state.”

Sophomore Ron Marshall had the Mustangs’ top finish in the tournament, taking third at 182 pounds with a 3-1 record. He is now 4-1 on the year after scoring a pin against North Polk.

Fellow sophomore Dakota Timmins grabbed a fourth-place finish with a 2-2 mark at 170, while junior Luke Cummings with fifth at 160 with a 2-2 record. Both are 3-2 on the year.

PCM will be back in action at Saydel on Thursday before heading to Central Decatur on Friday.
