The Annual Meeting of Newton’s sister city group, Organization Promoting Everlasting Neighbors, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 308 E. Second St. N. The meeting is called to elect directors and for the transaction of official business. All contributors of the corporation are invited to attend the business meeting.
OPEN welcomed a high school student in August from Smila, Ukraine, our sister city. Dmytro (Dima) Oliinyk is being hosted by Vince and Karen King and their sons and he is attending Newton Senior High School. He is a good student and also enjoys basketball.
A big “thank you” to all citizens who attended the October 25th pasta dinner that OPEN prepared to promote support of our Student Sponsorship Patron Program. We hope to offer another pasta dinner in the future.
The support of Newton and Jasper County has been so important in the past 21 years and on behalf of the entire OPEN Board of Directors, I thank you.
