• Preston L. McConnell, 31, of Newton was charged with driving while license suspended after authorities stopped him at 5:39 a.m. Friday for speeding on Interstate 80. He also was cited for speeding and released to appear in court.

• Dakota R. Mindham, 18, of Newton was cited with failure to yield upon left turn after traveling west at 8 a.m. Wednesday on First Avenue East and turning left at East 23rd Street South into the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by Kathy A. Rudkin, 48, of Newton. No one was injured when the vehicles collided. Damage was estimated at $1,000 to Rudkin’s vehicle and $1,200 to Mindham’s vehicle.

• Mohamed O. Mohamed, 29, of Tempe, Ariz., was charged with trespass after authorities responded to a complaint of an unwanted guest at 7:37 p.m. Sunday at 1024 E. 12th st. N. #12. Authorities had responded to similar complaints at the residence on Nov. 11 and 12, and Mohamed had been told that if he returned to the residence he would be arrested. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Leonidas M. Psomas Jr., 43, of Newton was arrested on a Jasper County warrant for violation of the sex offender registry after turning himself in at 1:24 p.m. Friday at the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. He was placed in jail.

• Marjorie Wylie, 73, of Newton was cited with failure to yield upon entering a highway after traveling south at 2:42 p.m. Wednesday on East Fifth Street, stopping at a stop sign at First Avenue East, entering the intersection and colliding with an eastbound vehicle driven by Patricia R. Boden, 77, of Newton. No one was injured. Damage was estimated at $900 to Boden’s vehicle and $1,000 to Wylie’s vehicle.

• Newton police found a Roadmaster bike at 8:18 p.m. Nov. 12 in the 600 block of East Seventh Street North. The bike may be identified and claimed at the Newton Police Department.

• Kristopher C.M. Walker, 34, of Newton was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and cited with open container after authorities stopped him at 8:58 p.m. Monday for having an inoperable taillight on his vehicle. Authorities could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle and located a metal pipe with marijuana residue, three packs of rolling papers and flask of liquid that smelled like alcohol during a search of the vehicle. Walker was arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
