Cards' Field signs with Winona State

Newton senior Taylor Field signed a national letter of intent to play baseball for Winona State University (Minn.) Monday afternoon. Field was a first team All-Little Hawkeye Conference selection in his junior season after he hit .377 with 18 RBIs, 10 doubles and five triples and had 22 runs scored while starting at catcher in all 34 games. Winona State plays in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and went 29-22 last season with a trip to the NCAA Division II tournament.
