Bleeker, Camp, Beyer receive postseason honors

Although the season has been over for a few weeks, the honors continue to come in for the Newton volleyball team.

Junior Michaela Bleeker scored big, receiving Class 4A all-state honorable mention by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association and being named to the Class 4A Southeast All-District team, to which fellow teammate Katelyn Camp was also accepted.

Bleeker was an offensive powerhouse this season, leading the team and Little Hawkeye Conference and placing second in all of Class 4A with 428 kills. She also led the team with 58 aces and 323 digs during her season, which ended with a first-team All-Little Hawkeye Conference selection.

Camp, who was one of just two seniors on the team this season, provided plenty of skills for the Cardinals. She paced the offense 715 assists, which were good for second in the conference. She also helped out at the net, however, leading the team with 40 total blocks, 13 of which were solo. She also recorded 97 kills to finish fourth on the team.

Hawks' Beyer named all-district

Following a volleyball season that ended one game short of the Class 1A Regional Finals, Lynnville-Sully senior Kelsey Beyer was named to the 1A South Central All-District Team by the IGCA.

Beyer — also a first-team All-South Iowa Cedar League selection — led the Hawks with 267 kills this season. She posted a .919 serving percentage, hitting on 203 of 221 attempts with 51 aces. She also led the team with 215 digs and was second with 42 total blocks.
