Alan D. Walker

Alan Dane Walker, 66, died on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton, under the care of Skiff Hospice.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 21, at the First Lutheran Church, 309 E. Third St. N. in Newton, conducted by Rev. Merle E. Smith of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.

Memorials to Skiff Hospice may be left at the funeral home or at the church on the morning of the service. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home. Please add Attn: Walker Family on the envelope.

Survivors include his wife, Sally, of Newton; children, Allison (Jason) Morgan of Newton and Ryan Walker of Ft. Myers, Fla.; two grandchildren, Alexander “Alec” Morgan and Abigail “Abby” Morgan, both of Newton; step-children, Jason (Misty) Henderson of Newton, Jonas Henderson of Newton, Holly (Mike) Johnston of Des Moines and Jeremy Henderson of Denver, Colo.; 10 step-grandchildren; his sisters and brothers, Paula (Roger) Smith of Littleton, Colo., Sherry Price of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Dean (Lisa) Walker of Loveland, Colo., Denny Walker of Adel and Mike (Connie) Walker of Ft. Collins, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Jackie Walker Shepley.
