• Two men were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver following a traffic stop at 1:55 a.m. Nov. 9 in the 400 block of Highway 14 North. Ivan R. Carrillo, 27, of Marshalltown was stopped for following another vehicle too closely and was found to be driving without a valid driver’s license. His vehicle was impounded, and during an inventory of the vehicle, officers located a container of meth and $2,861.05 in cash. During the traffic stop, the vehicle Carrillo was following pulled up to the scene. The driver — Tyler R. Kurphy, 25, of Grinnell — was found to be driving with a suspended license, and officers located a container of meth and pipes used for meth in his vehicle. In addition to the meth charges, Carrillo was charged with aiding and abetting the commission of a public offense, and Kurphy was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Jasmine M. Edmisson, 20, of Newton was charged Tuesday with fourth-degree theft following an investigation of an incident reported at 11:11 a.m. Nov. 1 at Just Fabulous Darling. Edmisson was charged for allegedly writing three checks totaling $420.51 on a closed bank account. She was released to appear in court at a later date.
• Troy L. Hammer, 53, of Newton was charged with driving while license suspended, failure to have insurance and failure to obey a traffic control device after traveling east on First Avenue East at 10:07 p.m. Saturday, failing to stop at a red light at East Fourth Street and colliding with a southbound vehicle driven by Lacey R. Stielow, 28, of Newton. No one was injured. Damage was estimated at $5,000 to Hammer’s vehicle and $7,000 to Stielow’s vehicle. Hammer was released to appear in court at a later date.
• Bryan C. Odem, 29, of Newton was arrested Monday and charged with third-degree burglary following an investigation of an incident reported at 7:50 a.m. Oct. 16. Odem was charged for allegedly stealing tools valued at $1,600 from a construction site at 1050 Highway 14 North. He was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
• Tiffany L. Vander Krol, 41, of Newton was charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities responded to a complaint at 8:27 p.m. Tuesday of an individual leaving Hy-Vee with a cart full of groceries, valued at $15.51, without paying. Witnesses provided her license plate number to authorities, and she was located at her residence. She was charged and released to appear in court at a later date.

• Tanner S. Auten, 22, of Newton was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (third offense), driving while license barred and reckless driving after authorities responded to a complaint of an individual driving recklessly and speeding at 2:36 p.m. Tuesday at Sunrise Terrace. The suspect was located in the trailer park at 2305 E. 19th St. N. #25C and identified as Auten. Auten appeared to be intoxicated but refused chemical testing. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Ali F. Rosenkranz, 19, of Knoxville was apprehended by authorities from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office on a Jasper County warrant for driving while license suspended. She was transferred to the custody of local authorities at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Joshua D. Stubbe, 25, of Newton was arrested at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday at the Jasper County Courthouse on a warrant for carrying weapons without a permit. He was taken to the Jasper County.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 15 and older.
