• Tiffany L. Vander Krol, 41, of Newton was charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities responded to a complaint at 8:27 p.m. Tuesday of an individual leaving Hy-Vee with a cart full of groceries, valued at $15.51, without paying. Witnesses provided her license plate number to authorities, and she was located at her residence. She was charged and released to appear in court at a later date.

Sheriff’s Office

• Tanner S. Auten, 22, of Newton was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (third offense), driving while license barred and reckless driving after authorities responded to a complaint of an individual driving recklessly and speeding at 2:36 p.m. Tuesday at Sunrise Terrace. The suspect was located in the trailer park at 2305 E. 19th St. N. #25C and identified as Auten. Auten appeared to be intoxicated but refused chemical testing. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Ali F. Rosenkranz, 19, of Knoxville was apprehended by authorities from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office on a Jasper County warrant for driving while license suspended. She was transferred to the custody of local authorities at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Joshua D. Stubbe, 25, of Newton was arrested at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday at the Jasper County Courthouse on a warrant for carrying weapons without a permit. He was taken to the Jasper County.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 15 and older.
