Shoppers peruse Christmas goods at the Beckman Gallery during the Downtown Christmas Open House on Saturday, Nov. 10. The store offered samples of spiced apple cider and various holiday dips for shoppers to enjoy.

Santa was on hand Saturday strolling around the square, handing out candy canes and listening to children’s Christmas wishes.

The Jasper County 4-H Community Achievers Club held a bake sale around the square and sold Christmas poinsettias as a fundraiser for their club.

Carriage rides around the square during Saturday’s open house were provided by Plume Hill Carriage of Newton. The second day of rides scheduled for Nov. 11 was cancelled due to rain but has been rescheduled for Saturday.
