Patsy D. Freese

Patsy “Pat” D. Freese, 78, of Newton died on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at her home in Newton.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the service at the funeral home and with a lunch following the service.  Memorials in Pat’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Pat, the daughter of Sam and Waneta (Walker) Good, was born on February 18, 1934 in Zearing, Iowa.  She graduated from Zearing High School in 1952.  Pat was united in marriage with William “Bill” Freese on July 26, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland.  Pat was a homemaker, raising the couple’s four children.  They made their home in Newton, Iowa for the last 40 years. Pat made Amish and Country crafts that they sold at many crafts shows in Iowa and around the Midwest. She also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, cooking and reading, but her first love was always her family.

Those left to honor Pat’s memory are her husband, William C. “Bill” Freese of Newton; daughter, Candace (Michael) Manka of Fort Madison, Iowa, her sons, Steven (Joyce) Freese of Cedar Rapids, William Freese of Newton, and Rodney Freese of Newton; eight grandchildren, Samantha and Alex Manka, Amanda and Evan Freese, and Matthew, Patrick, Nicholas, and Benjamin Freese; her one great-granddaughter, Ellie Freese; brother, Fred (Jan) Good of Houston, Texas; sister, Shirley Kolbe of Zearing; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Demirjian of Fresno, California and Mary Zimmer of Austin, Minnesota.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sandra Good.
